We have a lot to discuss. So if you are looking for a summary, the Leica Q brings together the best aspects of German and Japanese engineering perfectly for the first time. I wouldn’t say the camera is for everyone and it isn’t perfect yet, but it’s the best modern autofocus camera we have seen from Leica and the best fixed lens autofocus camera on the market as of 2015.

Leicarumors was put in an interesting position in May when Leica invited us to see the Q. We already previously reported the name of the Q and we were sure we knew everything coming out, but Leica wouldn’t tell us in advance what we going to see, so we had to decide if access was of more value to our readers than smaller, possibly incorrect leaks about details. Leica Q Typ 116 compact full frame camera announced

The new Leica Q compact full frame camera with a Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH lens is now officially announced. This time we are trying something different here at LeicaRumors – we did not report any rumors in exchange for an early access to the new Q. This was just an experiment and it doesn’t mean we will operate that way in the future. Voigtlander VC Speed Meter II price increase

Cosina Japan announced a price increase for the Voigtlander VC Speed Meter II: starting July 1st, 2015 the price will go up by ¥9,000 (around $70). The current US price is $225.

Leica made a special, one of a kind S2 digital panoramic camera for Josef Koudelka

In a recent interview with Huffingtonpost, Josef Koudelka mentioned that Leica made a special, one of a kind digital panoramic camera:

Digital photography helped me to go ahead with my work. It helped me not to be dependent on sponsors which for my panoramic pictures I would usually have to be, even if just to buy the film, develop it and make the contact sheets. When Leica made a digital panoramic camera for me — which gave me a similar result to the analogue camera I was using before — I was very happy, because now I could pick up my camera, call my friends which I have all over the world, and just say, Can I sleep in your house? I made a few trips with both cameras in order to test the digital one. I found that on the last two trips I was actually taking more pictures, and enjoyed it more, when I was using the digital camera.

NYTimes posted something similar a while back – the panorama camera was based on the Leica S2 medium format version (pictured above):
