Leica M9 limited edition in Tokyo

Update: a second M9 limited edition picture was added. I was told that both cameras are only on display for now.

To my knowledge this is the second Leica M9 limited edition, currently available in the new Leica store in Futakotamagawa, Tokyo (the first one was produced for Amateur Photographer magazine). The word is that only 10 pieces were manufactured:

The store also has the Leica M7 Hermes edition with 35mm Sumilux ASPH on display:

Leica X1 @ PDN PhotPlus Expo

Last week I attended PDN PhotPlus Expo in New York (this explains the lack of new posts from the past few days). At the Leica booth I had the chance to get a detailed presentation of the new Leica X1. I expected the camera to be much bigger and heavier and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the X1 weights only 58 grams (aprox. 2 oz) more than my D-Lux 4!

The picture below shows the optional X1 hand grip:

Here are some pictures from the Leica booth at PDN PhotoPlus Expo:

Leica US had also organized a S2 photo shoot in a nearby studio. I could not attend, but we will soon have the detailed report from David Farkas.

A detailed Leica X1 report from the expo is coming up next.

Leica S2 delayed till December

Leica S2

BJP just reported that Leica S2 will be delayed till December 2009 because of high demand according to a Leica UK spokeswoman:

“The Leica S system has attracted a great deal of attention among photographers since it was announced at Photokina 2008. Orders for the system have been much higher than expected, and in order to meet this higher demand, we have decided to adapt the S system production lines to enable a higher daily output. Due to the fact that this cannot be done during running production, and because the process calls for further testing and optimisation at some stages, first deliveries will commence from calendar week 50 (the week commencing 07 December).”
