Last week I attended PDN PhotPlus Expo in New York (this explains the lack of new posts from the past few days). At the Leica booth I had the chance to get a detailed presentation of the new Leica X1. I expected the camera to be much bigger and heavier and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the X1 weights only 58 grams (aprox. 2 oz) more than my D-Lux 4!
Leica presents a unique photographic experience to Antarctica: “Expedition to an Ethereal World”.

There will be Leica expert on hand and you will be able to test drive the new Leica M9, Leica S2 and Leica X1.

If you are interested and would like more details about this trip you can contact me directly here or call Travel Dynamics International at toll-free 800-257-5767 or 212-517-7555. Don’t forget to mention that you heard about the Leica Antarctica trip at LeicaRumors.com.
Disclosure: If I sign up enough participants for that trip, I may get a discounted ticket or may even join this expedition for free. This is why it is important to mention LeicaRumors.com in the dealers section. Thanks!
BJP just reported that Leica S2 will be delayed till December 2009 because of high demand according to a Leica UK spokeswoman:
“The Leica S system has attracted a great deal of attention among photographers since it was announced at Photokina 2008. Orders for the system have been much higher than expected, and in order to meet this higher demand, we have decided to adapt the S system production lines to enable a higher daily output. Due to the fact that this cannot be done during running production, and because the process calls for further testing and optimisation at some stages, first deliveries will commence from calendar week 50 (the week commencing 07 December).”
