Kodak announces new 29MP full frame CCD sensor

I already posted this yesterday on PhotoRumors, but I think it will be of interest for the Leica crowd: few days ago Kodak announced a new 29MP full frame CCD sensor. Here are some of the characteristics of the new sensor (model name KAI-29050):

The sensor is “the highest resolution CCD image sensor based on Interline Transfer technology”
Features a true electronic (or global) shutter
Has a “plug-and-play” design for easy implementation
5.5-micron pixel
Supports up to 4 images per second
2x to 4x increase in light sensitivity compared to a standard Bayer color sensor

This new sensor could be of potential interest for Leica and their next M model (M10?) or for a potential mirrorless R solution.

This exotic Leica M9 case costs over $1600

This Artisan & Artist case for Leica M9 is made out of crocodile leather. A natural dye process is used in order to preserve the leather quality and indigo color. The price is 136,500¥ (over USD 1600).

Leica cameras at the next WestLicht Photographica auction

The next WestLicht Photographica auction will take place on December 4th 2010 in Vienna, Austria. Here are the Leica models that will be part of the auction (click on image to enlarge):

I Mod.A Elmax no.676 (1925)

Elmax (second version) in 100% original condition with all early features, rare version with aluminium knob. It is very difficult to find a Leica Elmax which was never modified by the factory. In good working order. Some old repaint on edges.

Starting Price: 6,000 EUR
Estimate: 10,000-12,000 EUR

Leica LOVE Project

“Leica LOVE Project” is a photo exhibition from famous personalities and artists where all photographs are taken with a Leica camera. All proceeds from the sale of the prints will be used to raise funds for ORBIS. Here are the full details from Schmidt Marketing:

“In addition, the event also served as the grand opening of the “Leica LOVE Project” photo exhibition to raise funds for ORBIS. The “Leica LOVE Project” exhibits the works of Wing Shya, Creative Director of the exhibition, and 11 contributors including famous personalities and artists from different backgrounds. They all used Leica cameras to capture images with their own interpretation of the theme of “LOVE”. These 11 contributors are: Danny Chau, photographer; Dennis Chan, Qeelin’s designer and Chairman; Maggie Q, actress; Sean K, stylist; Suitman a.k.a. Young Kim, artist and designer; TK, founder of “Milk” magazine; Vernie Yeung, TVC Director; Zhou Yi, artist; as well as showbiz celebrities Michele Reis, Ronald Cheng and Shawn Yu.
