We already know there will be at least two new Leica cameras (made in Germany) announced during Photokina show in Germany next month. Here is a recap on what to expect:
- New Leica T camera – I am pretty sure about that (old model already discontinued)
- New Leica M camera – maybe with dedicated ISO wheel and bigger LCD screen (many rumors are floating around that Leica is not yet ready with the new M and the announcement will be after Photokina – I personally don’t believe this and still think the new M will be shown at Photokina and maybe come with a late shipping dates)
- There should be also new X camera(s) announcement(s) if Leica is planning to continue this line (and I think they will)
- New line of Leica M cinema lenses
- New Summaron-M 28mm f/5.6 lens
- Expected/rumored new SL lenses:
- Leica Summilux SL 50mm f/1.4 ASPH
- Possibly a macro solution for the SL
- Leica SL til-shift lens(es)
- I also expect at least one new Leica V-Lux, D-Lux or C cameras to be announced (made by Panasonic, branded by Leica)
- Leica S – we may see a small refresh in the S medium format cameras but in general I do not see any big developments here
Updates:
- Sinar will also announce new products at Photokina.
- There will be also a new Leica M-P Typ 240 Titanium limited edition camera.
- Leica will also introduce a new Sofort instant camera.
