Micro Four Thirds adapter for Leica lenses

The German company Novoflex will offer an adapter that allows Leica M lenses to be attached to Micro Four Thirds cameras. I am not sure if this is the same product reported by Leica Rumors few days ago.

Novoflex does not provide much info on their website – here is the direct product link:

New adapter for cameras with bayonet FourThirds

Lenses are available for the following:
M42 (FT / CO), Contax / Yashica (FT / CONT), Leica R (FT / LER)
Nikon (FT / LCI), Olympus OM (FT / OM) and Pentax (FT / PENT).

The price of the adapter will be 149 (around US $190) and it should be available later this month.

Leica discount for students

Leica is offering a discount from 15% to 25% to students enrolled in photography programs in post-secondary academic institutions. I could not find anything official on their website – maybe they are trying to keep this secret?

Leica C-Lux 3 does fashion

Leica C-Lux-3 Zadig Voltaire

Leica C-Lux 3 by Zadig & Voltaire

Redone by Zadig & Voltaire (a fashion designer), the C-Lux 3 takes very trendy forms… Here it comes in white for Madame and black for Monsieur, with a monogram decoration, taken after the fashion designer symbols, and a matching silvery leather case. As for the camera itself, it has got a 10 megapixels sensor, a wide angle zoom 25-125 with stabilizer and an automatic control of the exposure. Leica by Zadig & Voltaire.

Leica D-Lux 4 Titanium limited edition

The Leica D-Lux 4 will get its own limited edition as well – in Titanium, without the red dot and with a leather case. I like it! It is expected to be available the 3rd week of December. The price is rumored to be around USD1,400.00.

Leica M8 firmware 2.002

The latest Leica M8 firmware update 2.002 is now available (instructions available here).

The update includes:

New function: Detection of 6-bit coding for new M lenses

The 6-bit coding and the correction profiles of the new Leica M lenses LEICA SUMMILUX-M 21mm/f1.4
ASPH., LEICA SUMMILUX-M 24mm/f1.4 ASPH. and LEICA ELMAR-M 24mm/f3.8 ASPH. have been
implemented. The profile of the lens LEICA NOCTILUX-M 50mm/f0.95 ASPH. will be implemented in a later
firmware version before the first shipments will start.

“Bug Fixes“:
a. If LEICA M8.2 cameras are set to the “Discreet” option and to single exposures, an unintended “black
image” may have occurred when the finger was not completely lifted from shutter release button
before pressing it down again for the next shot. (Not valid for LEICA M8 Cameras)
b. Setting “AUTO-ISO” in combination with lens dependent setting of the slowest shutter speed: the
camera will switch to the higher ISO when the shutter speed corresponding to “1/focal length” is
reached (was 1/focal length + 1 f-stop).
c. Correct display of image numbering.
d. Correct display of the fastest sync speed in the menu (1/180s on upgraded M8 and M8.2,
1/250s on M8).

Notes:
a. It is not possible to “downdate” LEICA M8 and M8.2 cameras to previous firmware releases, once the
version 2.002 has been installed.
b. Saved User Profiles will be deleted during the update process and have to be set again after updating
the camera.
