Leica Camera AG, Solms, once again invites professional photographers to submit entries to their international photography competition, the Leica Oskar Barnack Award. Photographers wishing to take part may submit their photographic projects online between 15 January and 1 March 2013. The terms and conditions of entry can be downloaded from www.leica-oskar-barnack-award.com shortly before the start of the competition.
The Leica X2 Paul Smith limited edition camera is now shipping in the US and is currently in stock at the Leica Boutique in West Palm Beach. Only 1,500 pieces were produced for worldwide distribution. Here is a brief description of the camera from the official press release:
Leica Camera and Rankin host private viewing of works in ‘S Mag: The Rankin Issue’

Leica Camera, the international manufacturer of photographic and optical products, and Rankin, the British fashion photographer, hosted a private viewing of images from the Leica ‘S Mag: The Rankin Issue’ at the Annroy Gallery in London, an exclusive invitation-only event which was attended by over 400 guests.
Using only the Leica S-System camera, Rankin, whose career has spanned over two decades, collaborated with nine individual hair stylists, to create a series of striking images and a collection of diverse fashion stories which are communicated across the latest 200-page edition of S Magazine. The project not only represents the fulfilment of a long-standing ambition of Rankin and allowed each of the subjects to direct their own shoot, but also marks the first time that the publication of Leica Fotografie International, which is designed to showcase the inspiration and creative talents of photographers, has been focused solely on one individual.
Today Leica Camera announced firmware update v1.0.4.2 for their Leica S2 medium format camera to accommodate the latest lenses (including leaf shutter lenses) and improved white balance for Adobe post-processing software. The firmware update can be downloaded form the owner’s area.

A: Leica seems to have more than a close connection with the number 9. On 09/09/09 there were 9 products shown and released to the public, which was a significant milestone in the development of Leica on the path towards success. Especially with the introduction of the Leica M9, one of the products introduced on this date and another nod to the number 9.
