Leica X1 black “Jochen Rindt” limited edition

For the 40th anniversary of Jochen Rindt’s death, the Leica Shop in Vienna presents the Leica X1 Edition ‘Jochen Rindt’. Only 68 cameras of this limited edition are produced and the price is 2,150 EUR. The camera comes with an original photograph of Jochen Rindt by Peter Coeln taken six days before his tragic crash in Monza.

Leica D-Lux 5 Red Bull Illume limited edition

The Leica D-Lux 5 Red Bull Illume will be the first limited edition of this camera:

“The Red Bull Illume Limited Edition is the first ever camera made by Leica to be dedicated to a photography award. These specially handcrafted, meticulously manufactured special editions are only made by Leica to mark historical occasions and are always produced in very limited numbers. Only 250 cameras have been produced, a number specially selected to honor the 250 photographs featured in the Red Bull Illume Photobook.”

Kodak announces new 29MP full frame CCD sensor

I already posted this yesterday on PhotoRumors, but I think it will be of interest for the Leica crowd: few days ago Kodak announced a new 29MP full frame CCD sensor. Here are some of the characteristics of the new sensor (model name KAI-29050):

  • The sensor is “the highest resolution CCD image sensor based on Interline Transfer technology”
  • Features a true electronic (or global) shutter
  • Has a “plug-and-play” design for easy implementation
  • 5.5-micron pixel
  • Supports up to 4 images per second
  • 2x to 4x increase in light sensitivity compared to a standard Bayer color sensor

This new sensor could be of potential interest for Leica and their next M model (M10?) or for a potential mirrorless R solution.

Elmax (second version) in 100% original condition with all early features, rare version with aluminium knob. It is very difficult to find a Leica Elmax which was never modified by the factory. In good working order. Some old repaint on edges.
