Leica Camera Announces Return of the Oskar Barnack Award for 37th Consecutive Year

Prestigious Photographic Competition Opens for Entries on March 1st
January 10, 2017 – For the 37th year in a row, Leica Camera announces the return of the Oskar Barnack Award, the long-established, international photographic competition for professional photographers, and the ‘Leica Oskar Barnack Award Newcomer’ for up-and coming photographers under the age of 25. Named for the inventor of the revolutionary and iconic 35 mm camera, the ‘Ur-Leica’, the Oskar Barnack Awards will again be presented at a gala event in Berlin, where the award’s namesake began his career.

Tsubasa Swallow 35mm f/2 lens for Leica M mount

The Leica M10 will most likely use the same battery (BP-SCL2) as the M Typ 240



The third party Nitecore ULM240 battery charger is listed to support also the upcoming Leica M10 camera in addition to the M Typ 262, 246, 240, etc. This means that the new M10 will use the same battery as the M Typ 240 (BP-SCL2).

Nitecore ULM240 charger is not yet available for purchase (Nitecore products are sold at Amazon and eBay).

Update: there is a possibility for the Leica M10 battery to be thinner but still have the same length and width in order to fit in the charger. This is how the Leica M 240 battery looks – the body can be made thinner if the memory card slot is removed, which is unlikely:
