Leica S system updates

The latest updates on the Leica S system:

Starting from October 2012, Leica Camera will gradually introduce five new central shutter (CS) lenses for the S system: Elmarit-S 30 mm f/2.8 ASPH, Summarit-S 35 mm f/2.5 ASPH, Summarit-S 70 mm f/2.5 ASPH, APO-Macro-Summarit-S 120 mm f/2.5 and the APO-Tele-Elmar-S 180 mm f/3.5.

Leica also introduced the Leica Case S (available from June, 2012). The case provides space for following products:

Leica is looking for M9 firmware testers

Leica is currently looking for M9 firmware testers. As previously reported, Leica is expected to release another M9 firmware update to address some additional SD cards compatibility issues for newer models like the SanDisk 64GB SDXC Extreme Pro Class 10 UHS-I card.

Update: B&H sold out, but Dale Photo and Digital has both black and silver Leica X2 cameras in stock.

Leica M Monochrom, X2 updates

At some point Leica considered a sliding cover for the LCD on the M Monochrome – this is probably where the early rumors about a M camera without LCD came from. If the M9-M is a success, Leica may implement black and white sensors in other cameras/models.

Another firmware update for Leica M9 coming soon?

Leica is planning to release another firmware update for the M9 to address some additional SD cards compatibility issues. The new update will probably address new SD cards that were announced after the last 1.176 firmware update. Some readers have reported problems with the SanDisk 64GB SDXC Extreme Pro Class 10 UHS-I card.
