Leica Camera Japan will release a new “Leica X2 Red Leather” camera to commemorate the first anniversary of the Leica Daimaru Shinsaibashi store. Only 20 pieces will be produced. The price will be ¥273,000 (around $2,600). The camera will be released on March 1st, 2014. Via DC.watch
New X2 limited edition from Leica: instead of the the traditional leather band, the Paper Skin Fedrigoni camera has special paper called “Constellation Jade” (watch the embedded video for more details). Only 25 pieces will be produced. The price is not yet announced. Additional images:
The limited edition Leica Monochrom “Ralph Gibson“ camera is (was) priced at 21,000 Euros (around $28,000). A total of 35 units were produced and my understanding is that they all sold out very quickly, just like any other Leica special edition model. Additional images:
A new Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building limited edition Leica X2 camera was announced in Japan to commemorate the first anniversary of the Daimaru Leica Boutique. Only 10 cameras will be produced in different colors. The price is ¥289,000 (around $2,700). The engraving on top is the Tokyo Station Marunouchi building:

The Leica M custom made camera by Jony Ive and Marc Newson for (RED) sold for $1,805,000 at Sotheby’s charity auction in New York (hammer price with buyer’s premium). The camera was initially expected to reach $500,000 to $750,000. The (RED) auction at Sotheby’s raised a total of $26.2 million to fight AIDS in Africa.
