This video is for film camera shooters. In it, celebrated photographer Jürgen Schadeberg talks about the beautiful Leica cameras he has used in his career. He has taken some of the most iconic photos of apartheid-era South Africa with them. Only this year one of is images of Mandela fetched £10,000 in auction. Leica or no Leica, if you shoot film, this little film will make you want to go out and shoot a roll straightaway.

The matte black Leica D-Lux 6 camera is listed as discontinued at B&H and is out of stock at Adorama. The D-Lux 6 silver version, the G-Star RAW edition and the 100 years Leica edition are still available and in stock. The D-Lux 6 was announced in September, 2012 and is on a 2 years refresh cycle. A new D-Lux 7 camera will be announced at Photokina (September 2014).
A quick update on my original post from yesterday – I received few more details on the upcoming Leica M 240 v2.0.0.14 firmware update (FW_M240_2_0_0_14.FW):
A new firmware update for the Leica M type 240 camera is rumored to be released on May 24th (as M24x…) and will include a number of “feature requests“.

This year Leica Camera celebrates 100 years of Leica photography. We have already seen the 100 years special edition Leica S and Leica D-Lux 6 cameras and I just reported on the upcoming Valbray-Leica watch. There will be also at least one more special edition film camera that will be announced later this year (probably for Photokina) and will be limited to 100 pieces.
