New trade up program offers $5,000 credit towards the purchase of Leica S camera

The Leica S system trade up program is now live (I reported that few weeks ago but then Leica pulled it out). You can trade in any SLR or medium format camera and receive $5,000 instant credit towards the purchase of a new Leica S type 006 camera (priced at $21,950.00). This new program will start on April 1 and will end on June 30, 2014 (no, not an April fool’s joke).

Rumors: Leica T type 701 mirrorless camera to be announced on April 24th

Leica sent out invitations for a “special highlight” event on April 24th. If you are a LeicaRumors reader, this should not be a surprise because few months ago I already reported that the long awaited Leica T type 701 mirrorless camera will be announced in April. The new camera is expected to have an APS-C sensor and will mostly likely be produced in Germany, while some of the lenses could be made in Asia.

No joke: new Leica C Hello Kitty and Playboy anniversary edition camera

The popular French fashion brand Colette is currently selling a special limited edition Leica C compact camera dedicated to Hello Kitty’s 40th and Playboy’s 60th anniversaries. Only 10 units will be produced. The price is 920 EUR (or $1,263) which is almost double the price of a “regular” Leica C ($699). Additional images:
