Leica creates new destination for photography in the heart of Mayfair

Doors now open to new store, showcasing the premium manufacturer’s photography and sport optics range and beyond

Leica UK has today announced the transformation of its Mayfair flagship store in historic Bruton Place.

The state-of-the-art retail space enables photography enthusiasts of all levels to discover the entire Leica range, from professionals looking for a point of difference, to those wishing to explore their creativity with the Leica Q, or simply looking for Leica’s fun new instant camera. Avid travellers and escapists visiting the store will also find a century’s worth of expertise in Leica’s extensive sport optics portfolio, including binoculars and rangefinders.

Leica M10: what we know so far from the leaked pictures

Some guesses/speculation/explanations on the leaked Leica M10 camera pictures:

The white spot on the top plate is probably just a sticker
The top plate dial is most likely the rumored ISO dial
The M10 will still have LED framelines
The movie button is gone (but will the M10 still have video?)
The viewfinder appears to be bigger, but this could be because of the angle the picture was taken
The frame selector is back
Raised M mount to accommodate the rumored thinner body
The “Type No” reference on the bottom plate is not the typical Leica “Typ” reference – it seems that Leica has abandon the “Typ” reference.
The M10 will probably use the same M 240 battery (7.4V)
Some info on the filing dates from the FCC report: the tests were ordered on February 4th, 2016, the test cameras arrived at the testing facility on July 22nd, 2016, tests started on July 7th, 2016 and concluded on September 7th, 2016. The FCC filing started on August 16th, 2016. My guess is that Leica is waiting to sell their existing M 240 inventory and then they will announce the new M10.

This is the new Leica M10 camera

There is an FCC filing (FCC ID N5A3656) for the new Leica M10 camera and as you can see from the pictures above, there will be an ISO dial on the top plate as I previously reported. On the second image you can also spot the “3656” camera model that was registered at the Indonesian Communications Agency a few months ago.

Recap on the upcoming Leica M camera (Leica M10?)

The new Leica M camera was initially supposed to be announced during the Photokina show in September but it was postponed. The second rumored announcement is/was for November 22nd-23rd but it seems that this date could be pushed back as well. Some tips suggested that the official announcement will not happen before February 2017.
