A new Leica instant camera reportedly leaked in the latest issue of LFI magazine. If anyone got the new LFI issue please confirm, because this looks more like a joke than a real leak.

Update: I received multiple confirmations that this camera is indeed real – more information is available here.

The so called “Sofort” (instant in German) looks very similar to the current Fuji Instax Mini 90 model and it will work also with Fuji Instax film. Here are the specs:

  • Lens: Auto-Hektor 1:12,7/60mm lens (34mm equivalent on 35mm film)
  • Three focusing zones: Macro (no distance in the info) / Standard 60cm-3m / Infinity 3m-infinty
  • Will take Fuji-Instax film (62x46mm pictures)
  • Selfie mode
  • Price: under 300€
  • Shipping in November
  • Three colors available: white, orange and mint

Just a quick clarification: there will be two Leica M-P Typ 240 titanium limited edition cameras, the first one is for the Leica Store Ginza 10th anniversary and it does not come with any lenses (50 pieces, mainly for the Japanese market). The second Leica M-P Type 240 titanium limited edition camera I reported about yesterday will be announced/released in October-November timeframe and will come in a set with two lenses (333 pieces, worldwide availability). Update: the camera is now officially announced.

I believe this is not the M-P Titanium limited edition camera I reported about yesterday (it was limited to 333 pieces and includes two titanium lenses).

Get ready to not see a new Leica M at Photokina

Leica-at-Photokina-2014

I already mentioned the possibility of Leica not releasing a new digital M rangefinder for Photokina this year. This has been pretty much the consensus of all tips and emails I received in the past few weeks. With the exception of one tip, we have not seen any leaks or indications that a new M is coming soon (usually we always see some leaks prior to an announcement).
